Individual psychotherapy is a traditional type of therapy that is typically one-on-one between a psychotherapist and a client. Psychotherapy, also called counseling, creates a safe space that can allow individuals to begin to explore belief systems that create hardship and suffering in their lives. Suffering impacts ones thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors.  Through processing and exploring, individuals can become more aware of their choices, which can contribute to a healthy overall sense of self and wellbeing.  With this knowledge, and guidance of a psychotherapist, individuals are able to build skills that are necessary to create change and become ones true authentic-self.

Couples therapy focuses on the overall health and satisfaction of the relationship.  Couples therapy can help navigate urgent concerns, address ongoing issues, or assist in gaining general relationship skills. Couples choose therapy for many reasons. The catalyst may be a pressing or urgent issues that couples may not be equipped to handle themselves, or it could be a subtle simmering issue that they want to address to inhibit any further progression. Additionally, couples may choose to attend therapy simply to build relationship skills and grow closer as a couple.

Sometimes families get ‘stuck’ in unhealthy roles, conflicts, and competing needs. Instead of working as a team towards mutual goals and happiness, family members may become isolated, angry, or depressed as they are unable to achieve a balance between their individual needs, developmental changes, and unexpected stressors. Families are complex systems that require a unique understanding of the intricate play between multiple individuals. The goal of family therapy is to work closely with each person in the family unit to help create a collaborative, respectful, and healthy system, that can work together to achieve mutual success and happiness.

Premarital Counseling strives to prepare partners for marriage/long-term commitment by ensuring the relationship is healthy and fulfilling.  This space gives individuals an opportunity to express concerns, needs and desires. Premarital Counseling can assist partners in creating a secure marriage and assists the couple to acknowledge weaknesses that could result in bigger issues later in the marriage. The goal is to bring awareness on issues that may arise during the marriage/long term relationship and create a mutual understanding to support each others personal goals and long-term desires.
